Information we handle

The information RentSight handles depends on the features you use:

• Rental listing and website information. When you ask RentSight to analyze, save, compare, or otherwise interact with a rental listing, the extension may access information from the page you are viewing, including the page URL, property address or location, advertised rent, fees, utilities, amenities, property features, rental requirements, and other listing content relevant to RentSight's features. RentSight does not collect or monitor your general browsing history unrelated to RentSight's rental functionality.
• Information you provide. This may include household and rental preferences, rental search criteria, values you enter or correct, custom fees, saved-listing information or notes, and other information you provide while using RentSight.
• AI assistant information. If you use RentSight's AI features, RentSight may process listing information, relevant saved-property or calculation information, information you provide to the assistant, and other context needed to respond to your request. Successful assistant conversations may be retained for up to 30 days so that conversation history can be provided to you.
• Account information. If you sign in, we may receive account information from our authentication provider, such as your name, email address, account identifier, and sign-in status.
• Purchase information. If you purchase a RentSight plan, we receive limited transaction, customer, and entitlement information needed to associate the purchase with your account and provide paid features. Payment card information is processed by our payment processor and is not stored directly by RentSight.
• Technical information. Our infrastructure may process limited technical and diagnostic information, such as request information, error information, browser or extension information, and network information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and maintain RentSight.

How we use information

We use information to provide RentSight's requested features, including analyzing rental listings, calculating cost estimates, saving and comparing properties, assisting with rental searches, providing AI-assisted rental analysis, maintaining assistant conversation history, managing accounts and paid access, responding to support requests, troubleshooting problems, securing the service, and maintaining and improving RentSight.

Rental cost estimates and AI-generated information are provided for informational purposes. RentSight does not use listing, household, or account information to determine creditworthiness, make lending decisions, or make housing eligibility or tenant-screening decisions.

AI features

RentSight uses third-party AI services, including OpenAI, to provide features such as rental-listing information extraction and the RentSight assistant. When you use these features, relevant rental listing content and other information needed to fulfill your request may be transmitted to RentSight's servers and to the applicable AI service provider for processing.

RentSight limits the information provided to AI services to information used to provide the requested RentSight functionality. RentSight does not use AI features to determine creditworthiness, tenant eligibility, or whether a person should be approved for housing.

When information is shared

We do not sell personal information or user data.

We use service providers to operate RentSight. Depending on the features you use, information may be processed by service providers that provide:

• Hosting and database infrastructure, including Cloudflare.
• Authentication services, including Google Firebase.
• AI processing, including OpenAI, when you use RentSight's AI-powered extraction or assistant features.
• Payment processing, including Stripe, when you purchase or manage paid RentSight features.

We provide these service providers only the information reasonably necessary to perform the applicable service. Their handling of information is also subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.

We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect the rights, security, or integrity of RentSight or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, or similar business transaction.

We do not use or transfer user data for advertising, data brokerage, determining creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to RentSight's user-facing functionality.

Retention and security

RentSight stores different information for different periods depending on how it is used.

Saved listings, preferences, calculations, and related extension data may be stored locally in your browser profile and may remain there until you delete the information, clear the relevant browser data, or remove the extension.

Successful AI assistant conversations stored by RentSight are retained for a rolling period of up to 30 days and may be deleted by the user through RentSight. Information processed temporarily to provide a feature may be retained for shorter periods as necessary for processing, security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, or legal obligations.

Account, purchase, and other server-side records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain transaction and entitlement records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect against fraud or misuse.

After an account is deleted, RentSight retains a pseudonymous deletion marker for up to 90 days solely to prevent delayed payment notifications from recreating the account. The marker is created from a keyed digest and does not contain the raw account identifier. Our payment processor may retain transaction records where required for payment, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, or legal purposes.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can edit or delete saved listings and AI assistant conversations through RentSight. While signed in, you can use Delete all data in About & Privacy to delete your RentSight account, associated cloud data, and data stored by the extension in your Chrome profile. Account deletion does not issue a refund, and payment records or the temporary pseudonymous deletion marker described above may be retained.

You can also remove the extension through Chrome and choose not to use optional features or provide optional information.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your RentSight account. We may need to verify your request, and some information may be retained where reasonably necessary or permitted or required by law.

Chrome Web Store and Google API data

RentSight uses information obtained through browser and Google services only to provide or improve RentSight's user-facing functionality and does not use that information for advertising, data brokerage, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated purposes.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children's privacy

RentSight is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as RentSight changes. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
